Unlike an on-grid system, where the grid can complement solar generation, this configuration is prepared to cover the energy needs of the installation by its own means. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes sizing a particularly important aspect, so it is not enough to determine how many solar panels fit in a property. It is necessary to study how much is consumed, at what times, what equipment should operate, what autonomy is required and what storage capacity will allow the installation to be kept operational when there is not enough solar generation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-959dfa7\" id=\"que-significa-realmente-funcionar-sin-la-red-electrica\" data-block-id=\"959dfa7\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">What does it really mean to function without the power grid?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Off-Grid system should not be understood simply as a conventional installation that has had the grid disconnected. When the grid does not exist as a backup, the solar system must <strong>assume full energy responsibility for the installation<\/strong>. This means that the design must consider situations such as:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Overnight consumption;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Periods of lower solar radiation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Days of greatest demand;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting motors or other high-power loads;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recovery of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fondeursolar.com\/en\/lithium-batteries-for-solar-systems\/\">batteries<\/a><\/strong> after periods of discharge;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Future growth in consumption;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operating margin and system losses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, the sizing of an isolated installation <strong>must be carried out with special care<\/strong>, since an insufficient system can run out of energy when demand exceeds the available capacity. In an Off-Grid system that option does not exist, so it must be established <strong>what level of autonomy the project actually needs<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A facility can be designed to cover different periods depending on its conditions and needs, and the greater the range required, the greater the storage capacity needed. That is why panels and batteries <strong>must be sized together<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-751beb9\" id=\"para-quien-puede-ser-adecuado-un-sistema-off-grid\" data-block-id=\"751beb9\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">Who can an Off-Grid system be suitable for?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An off-grid solar system can be particularly interesting when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is no access to the electricity grid;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extending the network to the property is complicated;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The facility is located in a remote location;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A separate energy solution is needed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a consumption profile that can be correctly measured;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local energy production and storage is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can also be evaluated in certain projects where there is a nearby network but the objective is to develop an independent installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, if there is a stable electrical connection and the main purpose is to reduce grid consumption, it may be more convenient to consider an <a href=\"https:\/\/fondeursolar.com\/en\/solar-systems\/on-grid-system\/\"><strong>On-Grid configuration<\/strong><\/a> first. known<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Daily consumption:<\/strong> From the loads and their hours of use, it is possible to estimate how much energy the installation needs each day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maximum power:<\/strong> It should also be calculated how many devices could operate simultaneously, as this influences the required power of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fondeursolar.com\/en\/solar-inverters\/\">inverter<\/a><\/strong> and the system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nighttime consumption.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Required autonomy:<\/strong> It must be determined how long you want to keep the installation running with the available energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Battery capacity:<\/strong> Knowing consumption and
